Road noise in my Corolla is a great amount higher than road noise in my 2001 Silverado, provably because there is a lot of room between the pavement and the floor of the Silverado, I assume. I can drive my Silverado over these things a lot faster (slower too), and smoother, than driving my Toyota Corolla. I will add something using my own experiences: taller tires ease the driving over small road imperfections such as cracks, very small potholes, and gravel. Now 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks are quite different as they are made to haul a lot more weight and do ride quite stiff.

Though modern mud tires are very quiet compared to the old school ones, trucks are typically sold off the lot with very quiet, street-oriented tires unless you get a performance off road package such as a Raptor! Are they what I would think of as a Mercedies in quietness? No.

Also, the modern trucks are so insulated from road noise it's not an issue. The 1/2 tons ride great and their long wheelbases soak up the bumps.
